I won’t waste words because I can’t say much that isn’t too boring. If you’ve been keeping up, you know I’ve been working to bring our laundry room into this millennium and make it functional. Here is what we had accomplished before Labor Day weekend. Once the three day weekend hit, I was ready with big projects to really push the room forward. Now my to wish list looks like this:
Take down shelves Table for folding clothes
- Drying Rack above folding table
Vinyl Wood Floor Finished baseboards & quarter round Paint walls grey
- Paint cabinets, door\
trim and window trim(white) Curtains just for fun? Replace light fixture
- Install pocket door (in my dreams!)
Replace light switch and outlets
The rest can be told in pictures!
This was a mostly neglected room, used primarily for storage. The walls were grimy, the shelves grungy and mismatched. All of the shelves — over head and at eye level — made the whole room feel cramped and small.
By taking everything off the walls, putting a fresh coat of paint and lightening up the floors, the room opened up. The original cabinet provides more than enough storage, and by adding the table (and future drying rack) this room now functions as a laundry room.
I’m so happy with how it turned out. The room feels much cleaner, calmer and cooler. Although, it isn’t actually cooler, I need to get a little fan for in there. At some later date, I’ll come back in and paint the cabinets and door white, but for right now they don’t look too bad. I still want to make a drying rack to hang about the folding table, and supplies are in the works for that. But for all intents and purposes, this room is D.O.N.E.!
I have grand plans for some of our other rooms, but who knows what we’ll tackle next. September-October is our busy birthday month with the holidays coming right after, so who knows if anything productive will actually come about. If you liked this, you may enjoy some other projects we’ve done around the house.
Do you have any rooms you wish you could over-haul?
